The Living Room Stripped Bare

While we wait for planning permission we have decided to start work on the living room, as it is the only room in the house that will remain the same regardless of how the planning process turns out. The first thing to go was the lobby, however the picture below shows all the doors that came of it and the existing entrance door at the back of the house. The door to the right of the entrance door leads upstairs and the door to the right of it goes into the kitchen, which is going to be blocked up.

Doors, Doors, Doors and More Doors

The ceiling has also been stripped back to the rafters, ready to be plaster boarded and to make all the wiring a bit easier and all the blown plaster stripped off, revealing the original fireplace opening. Unfortunately the bricks at the back of the fireplace are quite damaged so we are going to have to come up with a way of repairing them, without losing their character.

Back to the Bare Bones

We have also had new double glazed windows fitted. Unfortunately our budget wouldn’t stretch to replacement timber windows, do we have opted for uPVC sash windows, which will hopefully blen in once all the architraves are installed.
