Minimal shelves go up

One of the final jobs was to put up a shelf in each of the alcoves. We didn’t want any supports so Ed made up a frame, fixed it to the wall with some heavy duty fixings, over clad it in thin MDF and then filled the holes and painted it to match the walls.

First the timber frame was installed

MDF was also added to the front to give it a better finish

And then the holes were filled

He also finished off the last bit of paint work and fitted the socket plates. We are leaving the floor for now so we can do the whole of the ground floor at once. We are hoping to go for parquet, but this will depend on our budget once more of the major work is done, so watch this space.
