Decorative Timber Beading

With the front extension nearing structural completion, we are starting to turn our attention towards the details. The first of those being the front door. A few houses on our street still have their original four panel front doors and we would like to try and match those as closely as possible.

We have looked at a few options and the most cost effective we have come up with is to buy a solid timber door, cut the apertures for the glazing and add beading to it. However as with most Victorian details the sort of beading we need isn’t that easy to come by on the high street, but with a bit of research we came across Whitten Timber in Peckham. We took a trip down there on Saturday morning and were amazed at the selection and after a some deliberation we purchased some beading… Much more exciting than foundations and bricks.
