Time to Tidy up

Now the wedding is over we have quite a bit of spare time, so thought it was about time we finished off all the jobs that have been side lined for the past few months.

Whilst Ed spent the day finishing off bits in the under stairs cupboard. I spent the day tidying the loft bedroom. As you can see from the pictures it had become a bit of a dumping ground, we have storage in the eaves up there, but for the last few months things haven’t quite been making it all the way in to the cupboards.

Here it was before – piles of stuff ready to be put away

More stuff to be put away. Percy has come to help too!

We used this room as our own bedroom for quite a while until our own bedroom was finished, so we already have a bed and a lovely G-plan chest of drawers up there. Ed also hung a picture up there a few months ago, which is a timber, fret cut artwork of the Lord’s prayer, which I picked up at Ardingly Antiques fair and restored for our last flat. The G-plan chest of drawers was also picked up at an antiques market and is actually cut down from a sideboard, which meant we got it for a steal.

Bed made and blind up – all ready for guests.

It’s nice to be able to see the top.

View from the bed. The en-suite is through the door on the left and the landing the door on the right.

The bedside cabinets are still to go up.

Making the bed up also meant I could finally get the intricate beaded throw which my parents bought back from Dubai years ago out of hiding. It is quite different from our usual style, but I do really like it and think it looks lovely against the white walls. I also added some lovely crewl work cushions, which I picked up in sofa.com‘s sale last year especially to go with the throw. Ed also put the blind up, so anyone sleeping up here won’t be woken up by the sun like we were for a year!

It still needs the mid century, wall mounted bedside cabinets putting up next to the bed and a few more finishing touches, but at least we can have people to stay up here now. I also feel much happier knowing everything is nice and tidy.
